Frugal Mom Tips

Whether you're a SAHM or a WAHM, you're probably on a budget and in search of frugal Mom tips. I'm in the same situation and have come up with some helpful frugal Mom tips I'd like to share with you...

Shampoo and Conditioner

Purchase the large, economy size. Pour half of them into a jar to store for later. Add a little warm water to the rest and shake to mix. Hair products are usually too thick so this frugal Mom tip will make them easier to use.

Laundry

You only need half a cap of detergent. As for fabric softener sheets, save them for dusting with once you've used them. They work especially well on glass screens. On the other hand, if you're using liquid fabric softener, put a very small amount on a damp washcloth and throw it iin the dryer so that a small bottle will last for 6 months.

Kids and Babies

Save the plastic bags that newwspapers in to put dirty diapers in and tie off. This also works well for dog waste. In either case, this frugal Mom tip is reusing something that you've already paid for anyway.

Jewelry

Place an Efferdent denture tablet in a bowl of water with your jewelry overnight. Don't use this frugal Mom tip with pearls though.

Makeup

Baby wash is great as a makeup remover and it's a lot less expensive, especially if you buy the generic and add a little water like you do with shampoo.

Soap

Place an unwrapped bar of soap in your linen or clothes closet for a few weeks before using it. You'll get a dual benefit from this frugal Mom tip. Not only will those areas smell better but when you do use the soap, it will last longer. Any little slivers that are left, put into a jar until you save enough up to wrap in netting and use in the shower. You can also melt them in the microwave to create a new bar of soap.

Coupon

A great way to get more coupons is to mail (snail or email) the company telling them how much you like their product. Ask if they have any coupons available and ask them to place you on their mailing list. Keep track of this so that you can do it every 6 months and capitalize upon this frugal Mom tip.
